Our Story
For over five decades, Vista Ridge has been the heart of winter recreation in Fort McMurray. Nestled in the boreal forest of northern Alberta, our ridge has witnessed countless first-time skiers, family outings, and unforgettable winter memories.
Founded in 1966 by a group of passionate local snow enthusiasts, Vista Ridge has grown from a small community hill to a beloved year-round recreational facility. Our journey reflects the spirit of Fort McMurray – resilient, adventurous, and community-focused.
Today, Vista Ridge offers 8 diverse runs across 60 skiable acres, modern quad chairlifts, a thrilling tube park, and a range of amenities that make winter accessible and enjoyable for all.

Provide safe, accessible, and enjoyable winter recreation for the Fort McMurray community
Foster a love for snow sports among people of all ages and abilities
Preserve and showcase the natural beauty of our northern Alberta landscape
Contribute to the health, well-being, and social fabric of our community
Continually improve our facilities and programs to meet the evolving needs of our guests

Vista Ridge is owned by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and managed by the non-profit Vista Ridge Recreational Association. Our volunteer Board of Directors brings together community leaders passionate about recreation and community development.
